Terminal Improvement Project

PIE Terminal Improvement Project - 2024

The airport began design of a major terminal expansion project to accommodate the extraordinary growth over the last ten years.  Over 2.4 million passengers flew in and out of PIE in 2023.

This project will expand the terminal building to allow for more hold room space, additional concession vendors and restrooms, expanded outbound baggage make-up area, and the consolidation of the two existing security checkpoints into one. Seven new passenger loading bridges will be added to the existing two at the airport.  At completion of the project, the airport will have 12 departure/arrival gates and 3 additional aircraft positions for overnight parking.

The contract for design professional services was awarded to C&S Companies in May 2024.  For construction services, the airport has selected a Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) and has begun negotiations for pre-construction services. It is anticipated that the Board of County Commissioners will approve the award of pre-construction services in November 2024.  The budget for the project is $110 million.

For vendors interested in pursuing opportunities to compete for work related to this project, more information will be  forthcoming in early 2025 and posted on this webpage.
