Fly Friendly Program – Quiet Flyers are Good Neighbors

Centrally located within Florida's most densely populated County, the St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport (PIE, Airport) is surrounded by noise-sensitive communities. We work hard to provide the best possible level of customer service to our operators, their customers and the aviation community while remaining a good neighbor to those families living nearby.

In consideration to those impacted by aircraft noise, we ask that you remain sensitive to our neighbors when making travel plans. The PIE Fly Friendly program aims at partnering with aircraft operators and provides suggestions on how together we can be good neighbors to our community.

The PIE Fly Friendly program establishes a partnership between aviation stakeholders such as the Airport, Aircraft Operators, and FAA Air Traffic Control. Through cooperation the goals of each can be met.

Ultimately it is up to all of us in the aviation community to work together to ensure the health and growth of our industry, including the support of the public and local communities. Thank you for helping us be a good neighbor and doing your part to Fly Friendly!

Voluntary Quiet Window – 11:00 PM until 6:00 AM Daily

While the St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport does not have a curfew or enact penalties for aircraft operating overnight, we request that pilots and aircraft owners be considerate and avoid flying between the hours of 11:00 PM and 6:00 AM when possible. Pattern work, helicopter operations and Stage 2 jet aircraft operations are particularly disturbing to our neighbors. The Office of Noise Affairs does monitor compliance with the Voluntary Quiet Window and may contact operators who frequently operate at night to remind them of the program.

Fly Friendly Presentations

The Office of Noise Affairs offers free General Aviation and Fly Friendly presentations to local pilot organizations, aviation related businesses and flight schools. The presentation runs about an hour and includes a video presentation on noise abatement techniques for pilots along with information specific to operating at PIE. To schedule a presentation, contact the Office of Noise Affairs at (727)453-7880.
