PIE is Proud to be Involved in the Tampa Bay Community
St. Pete–Clearwater International Airport (PIE) is an active and committed member of the Tampa Bay community. As a local business partner, we feel that participating in the health and growth of the greater Tampa Bay area supports the community and makes good business sense.
Some of our community involvements and recognition for our positive impact include:
- Nominated in 2013 by the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce for the “Good Burger” award. This award, with the “Burger” shortened from “St. Petersburg,” recognizes businesses which contribute positively to the community.
- The Tony Jannus Distinguished Aviation Society annually recognizes a pioneer in aviation, as well as providing scholarships and sponsoring high school essay contests. PIE airport officials serve on the Board of the Tony Jannus Society. In 2014, PIE participated in a year-long celebration of the first commercial passenger flight from Tampa to St. Petersburg by pilot Tony Jannus.
- PIE is proud to sponsor World War II Veterans Honor Flights. Several times a year, charter flights take 75 veterans and their volunteer “guardians” to Washington, D.C., to visit war memorials and meet elected officials. They return home to a welcome celebration at the airport with families and friends.
We are also happy to provide speakers for community events and host programs at PIE. We offer regular tours for schools, scout troops and other educational groups.
St. Pete–Clearwater International Airport (PIE) will continue to interact with our Tampa Bay community and be a positive business partner. Contact us for more information about speaker opportunities or tours. Read More Blogs...
