PIE Breaks All-Time Passenger Record in 2016

St. Pete–Clearwater International Airport (PIE) celebrated its highest level of enplanements in 2016, with over 1.8 million passengers… a 12% increase over 2015. This is the second consecutive year of breaking PIE’s all-time record, and the fourth consecutive year of double-digit passenger increases. Airport Director Tom Jewsbury said, “We are delighted to welcome so many visitors to our destination… the airport, airlines, and businesses work together to make a safe, friendly, and easy travel experience for our customers.”

December 2016, saw a 13% growth in domestic passengers and an 18% growth in international passengers over December 2015. This upholds the pattern of steady growth that PIE has seen year-to-year since 2012—continued increases in passenger arrivals and departures are expected in 2017 and beyond. Earlier this year, Allegiant began service to Austin, Texas; Cleveland, Ohio; and Louisville, Kentucky.

St. Pete–Clearwater International Airport (PIE) takes pride in our facility, airlines, and supporting businesses, and looks forward to a continued, successful future of efficient air travel to and from the Florida Gulf Coast. The St. Pete–Clearwater region offers award-winning beaches, varied culture and exceptional dining.
